Drone construction @ Zuppa Geo Navigation Technologies
- Built my own quadcopter using open source parts. Understood the different parts of a UAV
- Learnt flight configuration using MissionPlanner, a ground control station software, to make the drone ready to fly
Image capture & research on crop health @ Drone Acharya
- Collected 16,000+ multispectral images of crop lands in 2 villages Chitavi & Khamgao in Maharashtra
- Learnt industrial level image processing using QGIC and Pix4D software
- Developed a Python program to analyze crop health using NDVI indices
- Developed a GUI based WebApp for uploading multi-spectral images to deduce crop heath and land use
Empowering farmer communities @ Varsoli village
- Held multiple interventions over 3 days with different farmer communities in Varsoli village of Maharashtra
- Discussed the problems faced by farmers w.r.t pest infestation in agriculture
- Showed them a demonstration of my project, by flying the drone and inputting images into my GUI getting real time results about their fields
- Discussed about enhancements I could make to improve the results
- It was truly amazing to take my student project to real communities and see the impact
- Currently training youth drone entrepreneurs from within the farming community to provide the drone solution at low cost to the farmers
Research paper on Drones for precision agriculture
- Concluded that drone imagery for precision agriculture has greater potential compared to satellite imagery
- Won Gold Crest Award for my research paper “Geospatial Insights: Comprehensive NDVI Analysis of Drone-Captured Imagery for Vegetation Mapping and Precision Agriculture”
