Dance Journey so far

  • Trained in Bharatanatyam since the age of 5 under the tutelage of Guru Geetha Venkateswar of Bharatanatya Kalalaya, Mumbai | Mumbai | Facebook dance academy
  • Completed my Arangetram (graduation) at the age of 10
  • Conferred with the Degree of Visharad in Bharatanatyam Dance – First Class with Distinction at the age of 10
  • Performed at various prestigious events and venues in India and on Television
  • Launched a YouTube channel to showcase experimentation of dance in the contexts of culture, society, politics and religion.

Kutrala Kuravanji Dance Drama at Thiruchembur Murugan Temple, Mumbai (Year 2012)

In her very first appearance on stage at the age of 5, Varsha did a central piece as young Goddess Valli in the dance drama Kutrala Kuravanji

Art in the Park festival (Year 2014)

Varsha played the young mischievous Krishna in the unique ambience of a community space open to the public at Priyadarshini Park, Mumbai

Varsha played the young Krishna having an interesting and impish dialogue with his mother Yashoda. She was greatly appreciated by the audience for this performance.

Krishna & Yashodha dialogue (Year 2015)

Performing as Krishna, the main character, in the dance drama “Krishna Leela” as part of the 75th Mumbai Tamil Sangam celebrations. Varsha earned special accolades for this stupendous performance.

Performance at the renowned Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Chennai (Year 2017)

As prep to her Arangetram, Varsha gave stage performances across various cities in India which helped boost her confidence.

Vapi Tamil Sangam, Gujarat (Year 2018)

Varsha performed several complex dance pieces as the main stay of her dance school. Appreciation poured in from a knowledgeable live audience and played an important role in confidence building of the young artist.

Annual Concert performance to Patriotic Song (Year 2013)

Varsha along with her co-learners performed to a patriotic song penned by Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathi in the 1930s about the Indian freedom struggle. This performance was part of her school dance concert held at Rabindra Natya Mandir Mumbai.

Recent Performance

Post her Arangetram, Varsha started touring more with her Guru and other senior dancers. The biggest highlight of their performance in 2108 was performing in 4 different temples in Tamilnadu on the night of Shivrathri – Chidambaram, Nagapattinam and Vaitheeswaran Koil. She also performed at the famous Utar Chidambaram Temple at Satara. Her solo performance was also telecast by Sankara TV.

Post her Arangetram, Varsha toured extensively with her Guru and dance troupe participating in prestigious events across India such as the Uttara Chidambaram temple in Satara.

During the famous Marghazi Festival, the students of Bharatanatya Kalalaya, including Varsha, performed at 4 prestigious locations in Chennai – Sai Bhabha temple at Mylapore, Brahma Gana Sabha, Ratnagirishwarar Temple and Mylapore Fine Arts. She also performed at St Judes Child Care Centre in Mumbai.
